Oxford

Oxford is a city in central southern England. It is the county town of Oxfordshire and forms a district within the county. It has a population of 150,200, which makes in the 52nd largest city in the UK.

There are places in Oxford with the names of important people in history: Balliol College commemorates John I of Balliol. Balliol was a rich nobleman who decided to give scholarships to students.


 

 The people of Oxford are called Oxonians. Famous Oxonians included Stephen Hawking. He is a british heoretical physicist, cosmolagist and science writer.
